NOTE FOR 2010 APPLICANTS!! Please review the following information carefully.
The Grant application for The Wings Like Eagles Foundation is now available for downloading.
Grant Applications will be accepted from January, 2010 through May 28, 2010.
All grant applications MUST be mailed, expressed or hand delivered. Any application sent electronically or faxed will be automatically eliminated. Application must be in the door by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, May 28, 2010, no exceptions.
3 copies of the full grant application must be submitted.
You will be notified by November 28, 2010 if you are approved or not approved.

Q1: How many copies? 3 copies of everything
Q2: Do you require a cover letter? No
Q3: I missed the cut-off for FEDEX; will you accept a faxed copy? No
Q4: Can we e-mail the application to you? No
Q5: Is it okay to drop off the application at your office at 705 E. Ajo Way? Do I need to call ahead? You may drop off the application and copies at our office Monday through Friday between 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. No need to call ahead.
Q6: Does your Foundation fund endowments? No.
Q7: Does your Foundation fund to "pass-through" charities? No. The Wings Like Eagles Foundation will not fund contributions to any 501(c)3 who will in turn fund another 501(c)3.
Q8: May I apply on behalf of a school? Yes
Q9: What if our organization does not produce an annual report? Can we still submit? If your organization does not produce an annual report, you must provide copies of your previous year’s financial statement or tax statement.
Q10: What if we don’t have a Board of Directors? Please list your primary responsible members associated with your organization and their function.
Q11: Will you accept applications from new organizations? The Wings Like Eagles Foundation will not accept applications from organizations with less than 1 year tax status.
Q12: Is there a different grant request that I fill out? I seem to recall a monthly submission process. Has that been done away with? The similar process you may recall is through our Employee Committee. We have Employee Committees located at all our branches. The Employee Committees review all grant requests sponsored by Golden Eagle Distributors' employees. This process is not designed to review "unsolicited" requests.
Q13: Does TWLE Board focus change from year to year? Not at this time.
Q14: What is the average dollar amount that you grant? It varies, please review the web-site for past history.
Q15: We want to be sure that we understand question number 3 on page 3, which refers to "Direct Services": "We know that Direct Services refers to programs and services to the clients we serve, such as our writing workshops, the student reading costs, and the costs for the publication of our book. Would you also include the percentage of my salary that goes towards the program coordination and the salary for the employee who produces our book and arranges our readings to be a direct cost? Yes, please include salaries.
Q16: If our organization is not selected for an award, may we contact The Wings Like Eagles Board of Directors and ask for reasons why we were not selected? No. Each Board Member receives 1 vote; the conversations which occur between the Board Members, during the voting process, are privileged and confidential.
Q17: If we get selected for a grant, may we re-apply next year? No, you will be ineligible to re-apply for 3 years.
Q18. If we don’t get selected for a grant, may we re-apply next year? Yes.
Q19. When will we know if we were approved or not approved? You will be notified via mail by November 28, 2010.
